2. Treatment centres: - Once your plant room is recommissioned you will need to correctly recommission your dental chair and treatment centres. You can rely on us to help you do that with this easy to follow video and our service support team.
We can talk you through opening the air and water lines, put covers back on the unit, turning on the mains isolator and then power up your chair. Various chairs will go through different procedures when they restart. Make sure your suction arm and filters are back in place, hoses reassembled and run the cleaning solutions through the tubes and make sure everything is working correctly including making sure the water is clean and dip slide tests. Cleaning and disinfecting Dental Unit Water Lines using a combination of Bioclear and DipSlides ensures that Dental Unit Water Lines are fully compliant with water quality guidelines prior to seeing your first patient.

6. Handpiece Maintenance
Whatever the make or model we have hints & tips and product suggestions to ensure everything works smoothly upon your return to practice.
For BA International’s handpiece repair service contact 01604 777 700. You should have received one of their repair bags through the door of your practice during closure. They can also offer a simple service on handpieces to make sure they are fully functional when you return.
With infection control being a popular topic in the current situation, many practices are considering how to reduce aerosol splatter in the surgery and therefore reduce risk of virus particle transmission.
While surgical masks protect mucous membranes from droplets, they can not completely protect from inhaling airborne infectious agents. Currently it is unclear the impact of close proximity transmission of SARS-CoV-2, though airborne transmission over longer distances is unlikely.
You may therefore be considering switching to an electric contra-angle. These generate fewer aerosols and also generally benefit from internal anti-retraction systems.
B.A. International offer a simple solution to starting a set-up with electric contra-angles, should you lack an inbuilt chair motor. The Ultimate EM420 is a cost efficient, plug and play electric micromotor that connects directly to your chair's existing air supply.
In addition, they offer a range of different electric contra-angles, including red band speed increasers which make a perfect upgrade to a high speed turbine.
Apart from being a safer, more hygienic option, these contra-angles feature various other benefits:
• They tend to produce a smoother and more precise cutting edge, due to the stable speed. The electric handpiece is more efficient at cutting various materials used in dentistry, especially machinable glass ceramic, silver amalgam, and high noble alloy, than the air-turbine handpiece.
• Smaller head diameter results in a better sight of the preparation area. Patients tend to prefer electric handpieces because they are quieter and don’t produce the same vibratory sensation.
• Most models are equipped with an LED light.
